i am 35 wks pregnant and planning to breastfeed when baby gets here..but i really don't wanna wear those ugly nursing bras, is it okay to wear my regular push up bras that have underwire in them?? maybe just get some push up bras that fasten in the front to make it easier for breastfeeding would that be ok?
You don't have to...it's more just for convenience that's all, although they are more comfortable due to the amount of pressure that your breasts have when breastfeeding. I do suggest you wear the breast pads underneath whatever bra you choose to wear. Trust me, it's not funny when you go out in public and then you suddenly look down and see why everyone is looking at your chest (leakage). It will happen even when you hear another baby cry (doesn't even have to be your own crying). You will leak and have these big wet spots on your boobies.

You don’t have to, but it will make things a whole lot easier.

No, but nursing bras are generally more comfortable and convenient while breastfeeding.

you can wear whatever you want, although some bras may be uncomfortable when you are producing milk and breastfeeding due to sore and/or cracked nipples.

Try practising unhooking your regular bra to see whether or not you could manage. I HATE my nursing bra but have to wear it as I have a large chest and it is impossible for me to feed whilst wearing a regular bra (more’s the pity!) The other option is that you could wear a nursing bra in the house (which is where you’ll be for a lot of the time when your baby is born) and then wear a nicer bra when you go out etc.

no not at all in fact i only ever had one nursing bra and after a while my breast went back down in size and it didn’t fit me anymore so the majority of the time i’ve been breastfeeding i never wore one of those.
i just pulled my boob out of the cup lol

You don’t HAVE to wear a nursing bra but it really does make life a lot easier. You don’t want to ruin your nice bras with leakage or by stretching them out with the pads. This isn’t about aesthetics or form it’s all about function. I’m sure you can suck it up for a year and wear a practical bra.

You don’t HAVE to do anything you aren’t comfortable with. BUT, in my personal experience (I am very….well I have big boobs lol) the nursing bras were just SO much more convenient. I don’t wear them out under good clothes cuz they are NOT maid to make the girls look pretty. I wear a regular bra with NO underwire for that. The one time I wore a bra that has underwire, my boobs filled up and a milk duct got clogged. Pain in the butt. So, I would get a no-underwire bra for when you work or go out, and a nursing bra to wear while you are home. I NEVER wore a bra at the house until I started nursing. The girls change a lot and it was just more comfy in the first weeks before my nipple toughened up.

You don’t have to, but they make it so much easier. I was told wire bras aren’t recommended (plus, they are very uncomfortable lol). Wear whatever you feel is best for you.

nah i never had one!my babys 11months and im still feedin her wearin the underwired ones! the nursing ones are great for the reason they have the fasteners at the front but i think thats all! just used same ones as always,if u want, if anything, u’ll probly do urself a favour in the long run as ull have all the support u need!anything is fine, you’re the mother (or soon will be) so from now on…what u say goes!haha! hope u enjoy motherhood, its the best time of ur life!

i hated it! so much fabric! i felt like an old lady…. i wore "barley there". it was low cut bra, it was easy to pull the bra "cup" down under my boob and very supportive. i wore 38 D

I only wear underwire bras so I get underwire nursing bras, as long as they fit properly they won’t cause problem.
But any bra that fits properly and works for you is fine. I have big breasts (DDD or more) and sometimes I wear my old bras and just pop the boob out the bottom. Ones that do up in the front should be pretty easy for nursing it just might be hard to get them done back up discretely.
Really its whatever works for you.

I wear sports bras. I don’t see why not, but if it’s not easy for you to just pop your boob out you probably won’t care what your bra looks like.
Then again, that’s just me.

I never wore one.

NO!!
You don’t but it sure makes it a heck of a lot easier, and not all nursing bras are ugly. In fact I had a few that were nicer that my regular bras and I still wear them because they are so much more comfortable.
Underwire bras will actually hurt more when you breast feed,. The front snap bras will be a pain in the neck because your boobies are going to be too big to stay put.
Try talking to a sales clerk at a store about nice nursing bras. They are about the same price as regular ones!

You do really need a proper bra and its not just for convenience believe me if your breast feeding your boobs will be so huge you wont need a bush up bra and underwired ones will be way too painful!!
I had the same worries as you bout bras looking old fashioned and stuff but there are loads of pretty, funky and sexy ones about. Debenhams uk are good x x
